Ep 35. Ganesh Kumar, CEO of Commerce.Asia
What It’s About
In this episode, Dana speaks with Ganesh Kumar, the CEO of Commerce.Asia. They talk
about his entrepreneurial journey from Money OnLine (MOL) to buying Friendster and
where he is today. And as two dot com era entrepreneurs, Dana and Ganesh look at some of
the parallels between the modern day crypto market and the dot com market of the early 00s.
Commerce.Asia has consolidated itself as an Omni channel commerce enabler that offers
mentorship, investment, and market access to businesses; in particular, SME’s. It provides
these outlets with extensive training and advice to facilitate the process of becoming global
Omni channel commerce merchants.
After spearheading his way to entrepreneurial success with MOL; an online gaming points
system where individuals can purchase ‘gaming points’ from convenience stores and cash
them in to play online games, Ganesh was hit by an epiphany: that he needed to place greater
emphasis on the nurturing and facilitation of budding entrepreneurs to ensure positive growth
within the ASEAN region. He has done just that with Commerce.Asia.
In 2003, Ganesh became the youngest Chief Executive Officer of a public listed company in
Malaysia. Not to be outdone by his own abilities, he then went on to retrieve the Ernst &
Young Technology Entrepre-neur of the Year Malaysia title in 2012.
