Ep 3. UniMAKER Makeathon Challenge: The 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) as a major industrial revolution
In this episode, we speak to Prof. Dr. Rofina Yasmin Othman of University of Malaya Centre of Innovation & Commercialization (UMCIC) as the organisers of the inaugural UniMAKER Competition in Malaysia. She shares with us the how the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) will synergise physical, digital and biological applications through the UniMAKER Makeathon Challenge and nurture a new and sustainable “Makers” movement in Malaysia.

The UniMAKER is a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Education and several key universities such as USM and UTM. With the support from The Ministry of Education, it aims to incorporate Hackatons in the competition which will bring together participants from the four regions of Malaysia. UniMAKER Makeathon Challenge aspires to create a network and sustainable movement of creative thinkers and innovators among university students and staffs among the 32 universities participating this year.
The competition is held in four different regions in Malaysia to vet the best of the best in the participating teams. Following up on the regional competitions, the grand finale held in Kuala Lumpur comprises of a pitching session, Pocket Talks and even a live performance by Float The Rain!
