Ep 29. Curbside Cantina; Mexican food in Malaysia
In this episode, Set Lunch host JD speaks to Awangku Irwan Awang Muhd Omar who is also known as Tubby. Together with his wife, they run Curbside Cantina; a Mexican cuisine foodtruck known for its cemitas, tacos and quesadillas. Officially founded in 2014 when the foodtruck industry was still pretty new, Curbside Cantina is now an established presence in several areas in Klang Valley.
Tubby narrates the gastronomic journey that his wife and him took prior to establishing their food truck in 2014, from his in-law’s F&B business to running a catering service afterwards which led to the birth of Curbside Cantina. He shares with us the challenges of running a foodtruck, particularly in Kuala Lumpur due to the regulations that are slow to adapt to the rise in foodtruck outlets as well as their choice in menu as well as pricing. As part of running an F&B business that is also mobile in nature, he also divulges some of the unexpected daily challenges that comes with it.
The people behind Curbside Cantina are the same ones behind Pink Sage!
